Hi everyone, I need a bag to hold one of my Canon 5D bodies with the 70-200mm f4 IS lens attached, the lens has a tripod mount and UV/protection filter attached, also It would need some space/pockets for 3 spare batteries and a tuffbox cf card case and a few cleaning cloths, Waterproof is advantageous but not a deal breaker, I looked at a lowepro toploader 75AW and a Tamrac 5630, but these look like they are better suited to a pro body and the 70-200 f2.8's hence they look a little big, I will be needing this bag before the end of June, any help at all is greatly appreciated, thanks :)

I use a Tamrac 5630 if travelling light, the 1DS2 fits quite snug, the 40D is by no means lost in there.

The other bits and pieces should fit in the front pocket ok.

Thanks nellyle, I had looked at the 5630, but wondered if it would be to big,and I wasnt sure how big that front pocket was, will have another look at it ;)

Why not going to a shop and fit some bags ?
For schoulderbags I like the Thin Tank Retrospective series.
Back back I use a Kata UL111

But comfort its something personal. The best thing to do test some bags ;-)a

When I get home today, I'll try and remember to take a pic with the 40D and 70-200 or 300 attached, with a few bits in the front pocket. I have a box that holds 4 CF and 8 SD cards, I'll see how that fits in the front pocket.

I made my own quick draw bag. It amount to one Army messenger bag, with desert camo. I cut out some 4 inch thick foam, with an electric knife, to the width, lenth and depth of the body, then measure where the lens would be on the cut out, then cut the width and depth of the lens. I install the cut foam into the bag. I then cut out some, either felt, velvet, or satin to the proper lenth to cover all the cut outs, then spray some contact cement to the foam and now you have a great camera bag. It will not give away it is holding a expensive Canon camera, and lens. If you get a larger size bag, you can cut it for two lenses. On the side there are snap covered pockets for all the other stuff. I also cut out the foam for a concealed weapon (Walther PPK 380) I shoot in New Orleans, the streets are not that safe. I also made a bag that is water resistant for taking into the bayou.
