From their website (external link)...

We are excited to introduce the new iOptron SkyTrackerTM camera mount for astrophotography. New features include increase payload of 7.7 lbs and an adjustable AZ base. This portable mount makes it easy to take long exposures of the night sky without streaking or star trailing.

They have two "packages" on special for a limited time.

I just ordered one...I've been curious about these things for a little while now and I'd love to take lower-ISO shots of the milky way. Can't wait to try it out!

It seems the upgrade is the ability for a heavier payload and the AZ mount. The capacity for the payload is a great upgrade, adding durability. I am strongly considering one of these. Which package did you buy?

I ordered the black one w/polar scope. Hopefully I'll be heading to some dark skies in a few weeks to test it out.

Those of you who have ordered this please tell us how well it handles the rated 7.7lb weight capacity. Thanks!

I'll give an update after I give it a go. I plan on using it with my 5D2 and 14mm or 35mm F/1.4 next weekend at Crater Lake.

I just spent a few days with this device in Oregon and I must say that I'm quite impressed. It handled my 5D2 and 14mm/35mm with ease and it only takes ~5 minutes to get it setup and ready to shoot. It is easily portable enough to hike with and everything fits into an included carrying case that I just toss into my bag. I'll be posting my pictures from the trip shortly as I need to get everything edited. Overall I would rate this a great buy and the company had amazing service (they went far beyond my expectations to ensure that I got the tracker before I left for my trip).

I'd be interested to see if anyone tries the new device with something heavier and longer - I was hoping to use a 7D with a 100-400 at 400 to try to stack some nebula shots.
