jwcdds Cream of the Crop More info | Jun 21, 2013 10:44 | #3 So did the firmware add a completely new AF option? I saw the comparison video on CR, but on the pre-firmware, it showed the camera on single point. But the updated firmware, showed the camera on what looks to be all-point. Not sure why they didn't keep the AF settings identical if they truly wanted to compare, no? Julian

They made at least 4 videos: single point before, after, and multi point before, after. Sounds like you watched the single point before then the multi point after. The other videos are there. Jason

Had to go to youtube to see the rest of the video. The CR link/post (at least from my end) shows the single point on the 1.06, but all-points on the 2.02. Go figure. Julian

Jun 22, 2013 18:13 | #11 AF performance was the biggest complain with this camera wasn't it? If they actually fix this and they're still as cheap as I've seen them, I might pick one up at some point. http://www.colorblindedphoto.com

I could not get it to focus for the life of me while my toddler was running around. I think this camera only works well with subjects that don't move. Since my plan was to use the EOS M when I didn't want to carry my 6D around with giant lenses to take photos of my child, I'm thinking this is not a good one for me. I hope the firmware update comes out soon, otherwise its going back to Amazon. 6D | 24-105L | 17-40L | 50 f1.4 | Sigma 85mm f1.4 | 40mm pancake | 430EX II | Manfrotto 728B Tripod | Manfrotto 676B Digi Monopod

The main difference with small P&S is that the DoF is so deep, that everyone's in focus even when you don't want them to be. Julian

What are they doing that's different to mine?? My EOS-M blanks the screen after each shot for about 1/2 second (theirs does not). I'm lucky to get 2 seconds between shots, more like 3 seconds. Note that this is unrelated to AF speed -- I still see the delays with MF. When I took delivery of the EOS-M I couldn't believe how slow the shot-to-shot time was so I went looking for demo videos on YouTube -- at the time they all showed similar slowness. Posted on DPR. Again, other folks said theirs were just as slow. No matter what setting I tweak, I can't get my EOS-M to stop blanking the screen after I take a shot for 1/2 second, then locking out the shutter release for another 1.5 seconds. I'd love to know what I'm doing wrong. I don't think they are taking any exposers in the video, just getting a focus lock. Johnflickr
