Card reformat?

After trying to recover some photos I had on my SD card, unfortunately I've had no luck over the past few days. So, I now need to reformat, but, Neither my 6D, 650D or my Mac will allow me to reformat it, any suggestions on a way around it?

Thanks!

EDIT: I should also add, that my Mac isn't currently recognising the SD card either!

I don't think I'd be trusting that card, especially if you are having trouble reformatting it!
Personally I'd buy a new one.

If it cost you a mint, sent it in for warranty. If not, consider this the writing on the wall that it's time to move on.

Some Canon 1D series camera bodies have the ability to low level format an SD card. IIRC, the 1D2n and later. Here's a link (external link) on how to perform the low level format with a 1D4.

You may also be able to format the SD card with a computer and then perform a regular format in one of your cameras. The second (in-camera) format is necessary to write proprietary Canon files.

Even if the card formats successfully, it's your call as to whether it would be reliable.

That's the thing! It's brand new, I've only used it literally once. I was thinking of sending it back to where it came from, and getting a refund. Problem is, I need it for tomorrow! :( Been trying to get it sorted all week! Looks like this is going to be the only option though which is hugely annoying!

Ah right, unfortunately I have no access to other cameras, especially a 1 series! I tried the low level format on both my cards too, nothing at all.

Yeah, that's what I've been trying to do, it's over at a friends house now, taking a while to format. Hopefully that should sort the problem.

Granted, I think I'm gonna try and back them up straight to my iPad as soon as I've taken them!

Better go buy a new one. It sounds like you're going to need a backup anyway. Can you borrow a card in the mean time?

Is the write protection switch on the card in the correct position?

Yeah, I think I'm going to have to! So annoyed.

Nope, been thinking about that, but no one seems to have one!

Are both cards corrupted?

Sounds like you're going to be shooting with one camera tomorrow... it could be worse!

I've tried a hell of a lot of them, not sure about those three. If I get chance today I'll give them a go, thanks.
