At my previous post...At the feet of a giant...Marie said...

I think the background hills need to show a little more height , maybe with some sky above them
you say they are huge so maybe that was not possible
but I think it may have been
raising the camera upwards instead of down (I think) :o would have been better

and i said...

Well,i do like your idea, however this time would be just a waste, everything was covered in low clouds and thats the reason i wanted to stay low.
That said...the next time it will be clear sky and i`m there , i PROMISE you that i will capture an image of the entire thing,(if the wideness of my 17mm lens allows for all that).
---------------

Well , i was passing by the place but it wasn`t my lucky day (again) , the weather was bad.
But because i like to keep my promises , i found an older photo that shows how the place looks like from far away, its not one of my best,:o,but it will do for now.

The close up and resent photo (you have all seen)....

and the older (far away) and different angle version , as promised...

Marie , i hope thats a bit better now (if you are watching).

wow

I am not saying it just because I said anything before
but that is just stunning
absolutely

no comparison between the two shots

thank you very much Dimitri

this view I love
there is nothing in the foreground demanding the attention from the real view
nothing competing with what the picture is expressing
it's a very beautiful scene

many thanks for showing this picture
there's such great atmosphere in it, all over

I am gobsmacked
try that in greek

Dmitri, the second shot is stunning, the deep rich color of the mountains. I would not have know they were the same place. Your shots are a good lesson in perspective. I am wondering if Marie knew this place when she made she suggestions, or was it just a dead on critique?
