First Bee in Flight for a long time. Not the sharpest shot but I can never get them sharp in flight.

IMAGE: http://ipc.smugmug.com/Close-Ups-Macro/Macro-7D-Canon-100L/i-CF8JRTd/0/XL/IMG_2442-XL.jpg

Now getting rather busy. Interesting to see how the colour of the poppy has dominated the back end of the bees fur (or whatever it is). What was white on approach is orange when inside the poppy :)

...and another one having a nice chillout moment.

Thank you Terry, Ish, I must confess I was very pleased with the end result of the last shot. It was almost binned because it initially came out at a ridiculously warm colour temperature. The AWB just went nuts on me :). Think it was down to the colours in the bee, the leaf and use of the flash.

Anyway, I managed to really pull out the warmth and recover the shot to probably within about 85 - 90% of the true colour :)

Beautiful captures Ian.

I am inspired to try the Tamron rig and see if I can get shots as good as these.

Thank you Brian, Bas.

I don't have Tamron myself but I've seen a lot of fantastic shots from others with Tamron lenses Bas.

Thanks, the Tamron is the closest I have to the 100mm Canon you use, so that is how I will try to emulate your work.

Nice little series Ian.

Not seen as many bees at all as I would have hoped for this time of year.

Thanks Dan, Paul.

Paul I've seen lots of bumble bees but they just won't stay still. That said, I picked William up from school a couple of days back and they have lots of shrubs and bushes lining the inside of the school fences (I guess as a method of maintaining the privacy of the school whilst making it look nice too). These were absolutely LOADED with Miner, mason, bumble bees and I saw at least 4 species of hoverfly.

Would have loved to have gone back ground with the camera but my common sense tells me taking photographs right at a school is a big faux pas. People would completely mis-understand what I was photographing.
