Driving home from work last night, I exit a 40mph speed limit, accelerate up to just under 50mph, the road dips down, and crouched in the middle of the road dressed all in black is a person in the road, right in the middle of the lane on my side of the road, I braked hard and swerved to miss her, causing me to loose control on the wet road and end up in a ditch on my roof!, fortunately im ok, no injuries, but the car is a write off, also, the police were coming in the opposite direction a short while after and also nearly hit the person, as she was walking to where i had left the road.
I had to inform the insurance, but as yet havent' claimed as the car isn't worth a lot, and i had a friend who recovered it for me.
I was in the process of buying another car, and the insurance is now £150 more expensive as I have had an accident, even though I haven't claimed, HOW is this fair, and it wasn't my fault!

On a positive note, at least I missed the lady ( I still dont know how!) and I'm in one piece, but how is this fair.........

Sorry for the rant, I just wanted to get it off my chest :cry:

Just be thankful that you walked away fit and well enough to come and rant about it. Be glad that you managed to avoid the person in the road as well.

Accidents happen, losing your no claims bonus is a small price to pay. A lot of people aren't as fortunate as yourself.

Who told you insurance premiums were supposed to be fair ?

I was made redundant last year, after working as a librarian for the last 22 years. To save money, I sold my sporty saloon and bought a small, slow, diesel car instead. I rang the insurers to swap things over and, as they checked through all my details, we got to the bit about employment and I explained that I had just been made redundant and so was between jobs (aka: unemployed). We got to the end of the questions and I was given a quote for £1100 or so. My first reaction was "WHAT !!!!" as my older, faster, sportier car was costing me just £360 a year.

It was, apparently, due to my change in employment status. Despite having had maximum no claims bonus for as long as I can rmember (my last accident being over 30 years ago) apparently I am now such a liability on the roads that my premium more than tripled. WHY, for ***** sake? Am I going to suddenly become a worse driver because I am not working at the moment?

Now THAT is unfair.

I swear, insurance companies are run by and for the benefit of lawyers. Shakesphere was right.

'tis a full moon....

seriously, be thankful as it could be a whole heap worse (you might not have been so lucky as to have walked away, or you could have hit & killed the woman. niether would be a very good thing.)

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

I don't know how it works in the UK, but here you can fight that kind of thing. My GF flipped her car on an icy on ramp last Feb. The same thing happened to her but they lowered her insurance back to normal after some minor court stuff.
