First Moon Attempts for the Super Moon!

So I ran out (literally, threw on some shorts) and drove over to the waterfront last night to get in some moon shots. I'd like to know how I could even do these better for the future.

The first shot was actually done as an HDR image (JFK Library in the background). I think one mistake I made was leaving the Auto ISO on, as it did lead to some grainy images (even on my 5D III).

The second shot was taken with the 70-200 with 2X TC, and then cropped in LR. I shot that at -5 exposure comp.

The moon is blown out on #1. For that type of shot I believe the best method is to overlay another shot of the moon so it appears natural. I'd crop out most of the left side as it adds nothing. The second one looks soft and noisy.
