Hi All,

Just wonder what drop-in CPL you recommend for the Canon big boy?

1. Canon 52mm Drop-in Circular Polarizing Filter (external link)

2. Canon Drop-In Filter Holder for 52mm Screw-In Filters (external link) + B+W CPL filter (external link)

And any / or all of those B+W 52mm CPL filter (external link) can fit into this Canon holder?

Many thanks!

Canon 5D3 + Zoom (EF 17-40L, 24-105L & 28-300L, 100-400L II) & Prime (24L II, 85L II, 100L, 135L & 200 f/2.8L II; Zeiss 1,4/35)
Sony α7r + Zeiss 1,8/55 FE
Nikon Coolpix A; Nikon F3 & F100 + Zeiss 1,4/50

You have to use the Canon drop-in circular polarizer. The Canon drop-in CPL has a wheel on the top that lets you rotate the CPL.

If you put a CPL into the Drop-in filter holder you have no way to rotate the CPL.

Thank, powaysteve :-)

That makes sense.

Canon Drop-In Filter Holder for 52mm Screw-In Filters will look a gun without bullets :D

I have the Canon drop in CPL using with 400 28 mk2. Very nice results and as powaysteve says, the finger wheel makes adjusting v easy. Would be easy to adjust the 52mm drop in filter holder too, take it out, hold to eye in identical orientation, adjust, drop back in. You would of course be exposing the hole in the lens and your filter to a lot more dust though.

Economies of scale though, why go cheap on a piece of kit of such quality? Is there anyone out there with experience of both?

Thank, 777guru

I'll get the Canon 52mm Drop-in CPL filter for sure.

On my way home tonight, I suddenly realize that Drop-In Filter Holder for 52mm Screw-In Filters maybe just for colour or ND filter instead.
