Nice capture, Both you and the bird! Without knowing your location I'd say this is a Blue-headed Vireo.

Thanks everyone, this was captured at Magee Marsh in Northern Ohio on the southern shores of Lake Erie.

A little info about Magee: http://www.friendsofmageemarsh.org/birding.php (external link)

Nice image, but the sharpness seems to be on the back instead of the eye? :) Not always easy to get focus right with these fast moving little birds.

I agree, thanks. Do you think a better beamer flash would of helped?

I know your question isn't directed to me but looking at your exif info of 1/60, f/6.3, ISO 100, 200mm, your shutter speed is a little slow.
Up your ISO to get a higher shutter speed to at least a couple of hundredths to capture the motion of these little guys.

What an interesting piece of passeriform behavior you've managed to capture Terry. Love the fact that he's got the bug pinned with his claw/talon(?) like a raptor.
You did a nice job in the specular lighting you had to make this capture.

I agree with both freddy and Brad. Increasing shutter speed and aperture will help both freeze the action as well as increase the depth of field. A flash by itself will not help or change the focal plane; it's up to you to focus the camera on the part of the subject/bird you want to be in crisp focus. Takes practice, practice, practice and you'll get it. When you do we'll be waiting......:)
