Those of us who live in the southwest are so accustomed to the desert we tend to think of it as something to race through on the way to somewhere else. Thanks for stopping and showing us some beautiful pictures.

I think you should tone down the lighting on the tree on the first shot...there is a lot of potential with that shot but right now it looks like headlights on the Joshua Tree. Good stuff!

Thanks! I have tons of variations on this one as I was using a flash off camera to light the tree. (Manually flashed it) I experimented at various distances and for some reason i thought this one looked best. I do see how it many be too bright though. Thanks for taking the time to post, it means a lot!

I don't think that the tree in #1 is too brightly lit, only that it'd look better if the light extended all the way down the trunk to make it more uniform.

In later shots, the fractured rocks add character. They look so modeled and so very old.
