So we went to our local stately home again on Sunday. The Spitfire was still there, so I got some more shots, from a slightly different angle.

I resisited the temptation to do some over-cooked HDR, but these are still 7 bracketed shots blended in Photoshop (so, they are HDR).

Your thoughts, as ever, good and bad, will be appreciated, although my main focus is on the composition and framing. What do you think to that?

I really like the first one, the second not so much. I find the "dead space" at the left and bottom of the second image very offputting. It would work better for me if cropped in so that the main surfaces of the tail reached the edge, rather than the elevator etc, which is too dark. Even then though, I would still find the way the main wing grows out of the horizontal stabiliser as confusing, it all looks like one odd shaped surface.

The first pic though is very nice and a good composition.

Thanks. Yes, I realised it was a "challenging" composition in a way...I was also aware that I was leaving negative space left and bottom, but I tried cropping more and didn't like it. I think it is a view not quite what people expect, really.

Cheers

Spitfires...what gorgeous aircraft! I like the idea behind your framing in #2 with the horizontal and vertical stabs but I don't think it works to it's fullest potential. I like #1!

By the way, looks like you got a few specks of dust on your sensor. You probably already knew that though. :-)

Thank you. And yes, I am ready for a sensor clean. :)

You are assuming that comment was about your photo.

It is not only bad etiquette to crash somebody else's photo sharing thread by posting your own (uninvited) images, but causes a lot of confusion. The OP posted images and asked for comments, now anybody posting comments could be posting about his, or maybe yours, if they aren't very specific in their comments. It is quite likely that Winam was commenting on the original images and not yours, but only they know that.

You are perfectly free to share your images, but should start your own thread rather than hijack somebody else's. It is far less confusing and much more polite to the rest of us.

Oh, your shots are nice, but could have done with a much slower shutter speed to avoid frozen props.
