I have been looking for a stock photo site to sell some photos.
I prefer not to use a micro stock site, a couple I have been looking at applying to are Alamy and Veer.
Anyone have recommendations?

Thanks, had already read that thread, and a few others. I haven't seen mention of Veer, and all threads were a few years old now. I was hoping for opinions from people currently using either, or even using some other site.

I do alamy, it's hard to get visibility unless you are a key wording guru. No sales on my 96 photo catalog so far.

I do getty via flickr, which I like because its a smaller pool and they have pro keyword people do it for you. About $450 for 5 sales on my 9 photo catalog so far.

I do istockphoto, for 80 photos I get about 2 sales a month totaling maybe $5. Meh.

Same for shutterstock, 86 photos, 2 sales a month, but maybe $6 instead of $5.

If you have specialist work then you will always be best trying to join a specialist in your genre. Look at the mags/books that you think your work would be suitable for and find the credit lines - that's a good place to see what agencies are selling where.

For commercial work, you have two options. The big general portals such as Getty/Corbis/masterfile etc or an agency that supplies them. For the second option you need really to look at the work on Getty/Corbis and see which partner collections would suit you the best.

Alamy is probably the best place for secondary editorial work, although the returns per image don't match many places.... it is easier to join. Good work plus intelligent keywording are key.

This is an old blog entry about this question.

Veer is mentioned in the thread. Many years ago it was a traditional (non-micro) site with great earnings; nowdays, since C bought it, it's a micro and not a great earner at that.

There's still good money in stock although you are about 10+ years late to the real party!!
