I am using Canon PowerShot SX160 IS camera and home made continuous lighting system similar to soft box. I have 2 light set up one either side and cover them with t-shirts to avoid shadows. I am able to achieve white background but colors of tutus are not what they are. Purple comes out as blue and red looks like orange.

Here is an example

the colors are actually more vibrant.

I want my tutus to come out like this

A lot of people who see my tutus buy on the spot because they are bright and gorgeous but photographs don't do me any justice.

If I use flash and shoot in the dark, colors come out great but the photo is dark

Please help me on this..
Thanks

What sort of lights are in your continuous lighting? Some lights, especially fluorescent lights are hard to get accurate colors because they dont contain the full color spectrum. In the long run, you are likely better off if color accuracy is your goal to get a part of flashes and learn now to use them.

I use fluorescent lights. Can you please recommend a setup that I can buy on amazon for my lighting studio?

No. Not really. Those kits tend to be made of inferior components. They might meet your needs, but chances are they wouldnt last that long and you cant get them repaired. Before I suggest anything, how dedicated are you to learning how to do this properly? I wouid suggest ordering two YN 560II flashes from amazon. You will also need to trigger them via a set of YN RF603 triggers. And this from B&H photo http://www.bhphotovideo.com …Flash_Umbrella_Mount.html (external link) That would provide you a decent two light kit, one light to light the tutu and one to light the white wall so that you get a bright background.

I am very serious about this. Is it hard to learn how to do this? I'm even open to training by Skype (paid of course).

Its not terribly hard, but its not so easy as to turn it on and get results without any effort either.

Can you shoot outdoors? I think colors always come out more natural and vibrant outside. It might be fun to hang two clothes lines, one with big white sheet (your background). You can hang your tutus on the other line Just a thought.
