Heard about ML here on Canon forums and was wondering if anyone is using it on a 7D? If so was it a success without any problems?

I have it on a 7D and a T2i. ML is great stuff.

It works fine on both, although on the 7D the program has to be reloaded (by doing an in-camera firmware update) if the camera is turned off. Not so with the T2i since that is a "final" release (the 7D ML software is still a "test" version).

For a number of reasons, I pick my T2i if I'm going to shoot video, but the ML works well on both. To me it's really indispensable for video.

I would suggest just loading it and trying it out. If you don't like it, delete it. If you do like it, donate a few bucks on the website and enjoy!

I had loaded it on a 7D I was using as a second camera for a behind the scenes shoot of a local film, it was terrific having the focus assist features ML provides and ran without a hitch. Just be sure to set camera auto-off to never since everytime the camera restarts, you have to manually reload the ML firmware as Madwrench said.

So what your both saying is that once you have it loaded on the CF card and turn the camera on to shoot video don't turn it off because you have to reboot the program back onto the camera? If so how long does it take to reboot? Other than this hitch it works with out any problems to the camera?

I've got it on my 7D too, it takes seconds to reload it on. Just got to the 'update firmware' bit on the main menu and it'll load straight back on. Just remember, don't format the card if you want to delete all data from the card, unlike other versions I've used (5D MKII) it'll erase ML off the card too.

Yes; since it is still a beta the autoload capability is not enabled on the 7D version yet. I use it regularly and consider it indispensable for video recording -- once you use it for a while you'll never be happy without it. Focus peaking in particular is simply awesome.

That's mainly why i use it, the help that it gives with focusing is brilliant.
