Do you save all the footage recorded as is, compress them down for archiving, or just save the final result?

HD space is so cheap, I keep everything I ever do. Original video files are much higher quality than HD or any other final video format.

I keep all the original files on external+ internal H/Drives and also 2 x dvd's.Don't forget technology will catch up and what seems good now will be ordinary in the future.

Given the fact that I always ruin/lose my DVD's, I went with dual 4 TB Western Digital My Books.

I wonder if the video editors on The Titanic ever went, "Sorry, I can't right now. I'm busy synching the Titanic..."

That's why I have 2, and back up almost everything onto both. The chances of both of them failing at the exact same time aren't very good, so if one breaks, I'll back up the other one. At least that's my plan. ;)

Also they have to be in physically different locations for it to be a good backup. Fire burns down your house? RAID 1 won't save you. Storage is cheap, but reliable, redundant storage is not...
