One hates to think what would happen if we, mere members, had the ability to evict people. Our numbers would decline rapidly, I fear...

CHET and MDJAK would be some of the first ones evicted.... but with my luck someone out there would probably love to evict me! :p

Maybe we could form tribes to see who gets voted off the island.

I can see everybody forgetting about photography because it would be more fun to play with the software.

It might all come to an abrupt end when somebody tries to vote Pekka off the island.

Hahaha. Yeah. I tried to warn him once in AMASS about how his multiple testing-accounts would get him banned if the mods found out. But did he listen?

Reminds me of a company I visited to view their financial software to see if it would be an interesting program to sell - but the main coder first had to start with hacking the system because it considered his installation a pirate copy. So sometimes even the masters can be locked out of their systems :p

Great news Pekka, I feel like a kid the week before Christmas.

Thanks for doing all of this.

In short: AMASS is ready. The next step is tweaking the upgrade procedure (that takes some days), then putting AMASS on the new server, inviting people to check it out: first the old beta team and mods, then many more, if not all.

Final beta should be a short one (no more than two weeks), no new features will be added to final beta and if all seems ok I'll put my time to further tweak slow parts of the upgrade procedure (slow task being 10 million image verifications). to make upgrade downtime as short as possible.

Doing mod tools took much more time than I thought, but they are really cool and canning spammers is so easy and fun that mods wish now that they could hit that button :) Overall, since the beta phase there are many changes done here and there, new features and better ways to do things.

The secret to that is don't ban Pekka. Don't do that at all. Just block all his IP addresses. :D

Would be fun to do that to some one with his expertise just to see how many different ways he could get back on. Proxy servers, VPN, family member computers, etc....

TOR ;) - solves the problem. (Unless you blacklist all nodes...)

Nah, I outgrew all the ones I owned. Aprons are much more flexible in sizing. :p

What is TOR? :o

Decentralised anonymization project which can be used to hide one's identity on the web.

Google "TOR Project" if you are curious.

If you think about using it:
It is fairly slow and if you want to be anonymous you need to adapt your usage, so no Flash, ideally block JavaScript too... - I wouldn't consider it that practical, but knowing it exists is good, just in case.

Thank you. I had never heard about it before. It is good that it is a software and will do the work for me... but your conclusion saying "no Flash, ideally block JavaScript" is beyond my computer skills...... so I probably will not use it at all....

TOR is quite easy to block (and e.g. Wikipedia does it), exit node lists are available and updated every 30 mins. I'll probably block using post editor via TOR in the future (TOR is sadly mostly used for spamming).

Another reason for me to NOT download TOR.

I do not want to be associated with spammers.....
