Hi guys and gals, anyone had experience with this combo? Thinking about picking one up mainly for the price and would be nice to have a prime.

I think it's a great combo. I had a lot of fun with my 50mm 1.8 II. The focus was pretty fast. It didn't hunt much at all. Maybe it was because I only used the center cross auto focus point. I ended giving up my 50mm to a friend though. I'm one of those guys who let newbies try out new drugs for free. In this case, it was the 50mm prime lens LOL. He only had a 18-55mm and a 55-250mm.. :)

I always refer to the 50 1,8 as the "gateway lens to the L-series" ;)

I work midnight shift so today I tried it in quite low light. I must say I am
Very impressed so far. I feel like I am using a point n shoot, could be because of the weight of the lens and body. I am digging it so far!

Now another question? In the future should i invest in a 1.4 50mm.... Hmm

IF you like the 50mm, and can use it pretty good, then sure.
