A little project of mine, trying to get these acrobats focused in my lens. I'm getting closer, enough so that I'm willing to share a couple images now. These were taken with the 5Dc/70-200mm 2.8 is ii. I need more FPS so will attempt this again with the 7D. I think I was a little heavy-handed with the sharpening.

I welcome your C&C. I'll be back when I get some better examples.

They look good and good effort. But they are much too small in the pic, crying out for you to buy a longer lens so I can borrow it. ;-)a

A 400 ought'a be near perfect, but getting one in frame is gonna be a whole lot tougher.

It would never work for this series.

Or do you have your eye on another bird? Like the one that lives next door to you, always working on her tan, there on the back deck?

There will be days when you get the shot(s) you missed days, months or years before.

Sorry, those will remain in my private collection for the forseeable future.

However, a quick Google search will turn up Kevan in his birthday suit.

Wow! I tried all summer to capture similar photos without success. Very very well done and inspiring!

I tried several times trying to follow them. Finally I just started to notice that some would fly a loose pattern. So I prefocused to that general area and waited until it flew in the frame and just clicked away. It was the only way I could do this without getting dizzy with my 400 5.6. Did get a nice banked turn.:) will post if requested, don't want to step on the OP's thread.
