I use a steel ruler mounted on a tripod at approx 45 deg to the focal plane, I have a target next to the ruler that is parallel with the sensor, the ruler is used to show the DOF and where the focus point is in respect to the DOF.
I have FoCal and have also used the focus confirmation light method. But I find the above to be the most accurate and consistent.
My problem is, I have misplaced my RC, so there is a chance of slight one net when releasing. The shutter, even though I use timer delay. So I have ordered a couple new remotes and will adjust the MF more thoroughly when they arrive, and adjust the 5D3 also.
