Buono Estente,

Back in the rehearsal rooms again this week for a presentation of four different pieces in progress ... none of them had lighting but in some cases the natural light had a nice colour, in others they shut it out which was less pleasant, but not hugely problematic, just not quite as nice. I'll post a couple from each as there were four ...

After doing so well last week I forgot to sRGB these, but have now added it to my resizing action so this won't happen again ...

The first piece called "Destino // Destino" or Destination // Destination ...

The second was called D-SVAN7 which I'm pretty sure doesn't need translating ... natural light shut out and indoor lights on.

The third piece was called Rival, also not in need of translation but because it's the same word as in English not because it isn't a word ... natural light and lights off for this one.

Finally, "Exodo: Primer Dia" or Exodus: Day One which also featured live music and also just used the natural light ...

More in a Flickr set for the four shows here ... Flickr set for the four shows. (external link) There's a few others that I liked.

Thoughts, Cs or Cs ...

Nice captures of the poses, just to bad the atmosphere of a theater was missing.

Indeed. They'd look better under stage lights, most things do, than a rehearsal room under strip lights ... although it's better than a black rehearsal room under strip lights.

Love your framing on these photos!

My website has my most recent work - macro photography (external link), live music photography (external link) and am working on a book focusing on Brisbane live music (external link) as my way of giving back.
I also have some photography tips (external link) for those with new cameras.

Nice - I would like to see these processed like your last set in black and white. It may improve the atmospheric feel of the shots.

I ditto the black and white idea. The process of creating dance is an awesome thing to capture. I'd like it in black and white.

This is totally personal preference, I know, but I would love to see some motion in a few of these. With the exception of the first image, these look like they could have been statically posed and shot. Just a hint of motion blur would express the dynamism of dancers in motion. (You actually had that in the B&W series you posted earlier.)

I was actually never sure if that little bit of motion in the other shots (and I have it in many others) was considered good or bad ... I guess in more static poses it's good, shows that it's a dance rather than a pose, for jumping shots it's un-necessary as they're pretty hard to pose (although they can be done just for the camera, of course) and alternating between the two isn't easy. I'll return to prior settings, perhaps, if these were any different, although I think the settings were about the same, just the pieces were quite low tempo.

I was planning to do a few in Black and White for those who had requested to see, but I've ended up being rather more busy than anticipated this week and now have new stuff to process ... torn between Black and White and colour now! I think I'll have lunch.
