I have two PW Flex TT5s transceivers that don't seem to be responding to the hotshoe signal from my 5D Mark 3.

Today I'm trying to get them to trigger my Elinchrom D-Light 4s via 3.5mm connector cable.
The test button fires the strobes every time but the hotshoe on both my 5D3 and 40D keep failing to trigger the PWs. I have also tried switching around the PW transceievers

I have tried turning the devices on in the following order: strobe transciever, camera transceiver, camera and this doesn't seem to have any effect either.

Is there something I'm missing here? I'm struggling to believe that the hotshoe mounts on both transceivers and or both cameras is failing.

Previously this same combination did work although it was possibly before my latest PW firmware update to 6.400 and also prior to updating my 5D3 firmware to 1.2.1

PWs are both set to C1 and Channel A.

Update on this, I tried using them to fire my 580EX flash yesterday afternoon during an outdoor portraiture session and again the test button fires the strobes but the shutter fired them once, then not again as long as I tried using them during the session.

Freshly charged AA batteries in both the 580EX and Transeivers this time also.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Make sure they are configured in firmware exactly the same.

Also, when updating firmware its necessary to do a reset. I think the new config utility does it but it might be a good idea to do it via button press as well. Sequence is in the manual. Its been long enough that I forgot.

What was the weather like yesterday? Last summer under hot humid conditions outside, I had my Pocket Wizard Plus II fail. From an inside air conditioned car to sweltering heat, cleaning and drying contacts, batteries and still no luck.
Since I needed two lights and at that time I only had one 600EX RT and and one ST E3 Transmitter, my old PW had to be put to work. Needless to say after many more 600 EX-RT and another ST E3 transmitter were added to my collection, the PW have not seen much use at all, and the communication glitches have been a thing of the past.
I still have my PW for my studio strobes when needed inside, which I have not had a problem. Sometimes Mother Nature throws a loop now and then.

It was 8pm in the evening so rather pleasant temperature wise yesterday. The first post happened in fairly average temperatures in doors also.

I'm suspecting that I have a problem with my units, but trying to rule out all other likely possibilities.

Thanks for the input - I'll try revisiting my issues via the pw software.

Angus,
When I was using ControlTL regularly, I found that it paid to reset all the units to default from time to time. Not sure what would corrupt the configurations but it did seem they were a bit more reliable when the PW tech support guy pointed me to the instructions for turn on sequence and suggested I follow it religiously. :-)

David, thanks for the advice. I finally got around to doing a Type B reset and managed to get them working again.
