i have the option to get a 420ex for $80, good deal or should i get something else? mainly looking for HSS. i already have two YN 460ii, i'd like to be able to use eTTl on occasion.

i just bought a 320ex 2 days ago for 250 and i absolutely love it. if im not mistaken this 420 is the next higher one correct? if so id say thats a smoking deal if everything is there and working properly.

they go for $120 on amazon... the product description is sparse, it was replaced by the 430ex, so im not sure if its outdated, im not well versed in the capabilities of flash.

420EX is essentially an e-TTL only version of the 430EX. It's an excellent flash if you don't wish to do manual flash control with it as there are no manual output controls. I can't think of a better option for that kind of money.

Anything $100 or less is a good deal for a 420EX in my opinion.

It is an "outdated" flash in that it is no longer made, but it is fully compatible with digital cameras (I even use mine with wireless e-TTL on my 60D).
