Haven't shot in a long time and never used the AB800s I bought during that time. My girlfriend was over so I asked her to take a quick photo so I could test a lighting set up and practice some retouching.

Looking for critique on retouching and lighting, I feel like I'm done for the most part apart for some more detailed healing on her skin, the unsmooth skin on her forehead, and stray hairs/hair cleanup. Feel free to let me know if you find other things I need to put work into, harsh critiques please!

I'm seeing a fair number of hot spots on the skin. ;)

Okay thats what I thought heh! I'd be targetting the three hot spots, one on her nose, cheekbone, and forehead?

Some of the cleaned-up areas came out gray.

Hmm I tried to look out for that, guess I didn't get it perfect. Where exactly are you noticing it? I'm sort of noticing it on the forehead, not sure if thats where you were seeing it or not.

I guess the easiest fix for that now is to make a separate frequency layer and airbrush the low frequency colors into the grey areas I made from quick fixing the hot spots.

EDIT:

Air Brushed on low frequency layer
Saturation boost via masked saturation layer

Prominently in that big patch on the forehead; moderately on the right cheek. Your new revision fixed it.

the highlight on the nose looks like a backward "L" its looks completely desaturated and not like a natural highlight.

I had a quick play in ps but you don't have image editing on, I found the shadowing on the cheekbone and under the left eye made the image harsh, I boosted the brightness a little to balance of the blow out highlight on the nose and smooth some of the stray hairs on the forehead

I'll turn it on and go ahead and post it. It'd help a lot!
