with full summer sun nowadays, you have to get out early to get some nice light. all shot with my 1D4/500mm f/4/1.4x TC.

And you certainly took advantage of it-well done. They always look so regal, I'm almost surprised they allowed themselves to be photographed w/ their mouth open or scratching:)

Beautifully done. I keep trying to get some that have been hanging out at my neighbors. Pick up a camera, and they vanish. Blue skies have been a rare sight in my area lately.

thanks everyone!

if i may add to this, and its from the same time i was there with the Waxwing,this is a mated pair of Tree Swallows. while one was in the nest, the other would
hang around and preen itself while waiting:

and speaking of preening, i watched this American Finch preen and fluff itself up for quite a while. ended up looking quite comical:
