Hi,

Not sure there is such a thing for a bigger camera but I've seen this for the gopro size camera, I am sure it could hold your g12... something like this (external link)

Or something like this from Manfrotto (external link)

I am not sure I would trust a hotshoe to hold a hotfoot with 351g on it...the Canon 580EX flash is only 100g, and the additional weight might tear off the hotshoe from the dSLR, the force from the dynamics of shifting around suddenly, etc.

Better to simply get a bracket which allows you to use a 1/4"-20 tripod thumbscrew (or Allen head screw) to secure the camera to the bracket

"Micro Ball Head with Flash Shoe Mount"

although I'd be doing some sort of bracket rather than trust the 4 wee screws that hold the flash shoe onto the camera will hold up whatever weight...

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

May be use something like this (external link) to avoid the strain on hot shoe as mentioned by everyone else.

I have a 35 year old cheapo version of one of these that allows two cameras to be simultaneously mounted, side by side, and the whole thing mounted to a tripod. Works well for double 35mm or DSLRs with long lenses, too!

I've used one of these to hold a lumix fz-28 and a 400d on top of another 400d ...it didn't rip the camera apart

I have one of these to mount my Hero2 on my T2i - Seems like a decent mount. As far as for another camera i might look into a better mount to not strain the Hotshoe
