I have a Lenovo W510 Thinkpad with built in hueyPro color calibration. It has always worked great until I got my new Canon Pixma Pro 100 printer. The colors are over saturated and the reds are too bright. I checked my profile, etc. The strange thing is that the print preview on the screen is also over saturated and the reds are too bright. The print preview matches the print but is visibly not good. I rarely eve touch saturation.

I attached a screen shot that shows what I am experiencing.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I'm no expert but maybe its a management thing. Did you check to see if both your software and printer are both set to same? I had an issue with that when I was trying to sort out printing issues.

Check in the printer driver to ensure you have color management turned OFF. Color management should be by Lightroom using the profile for the paper you are printing to. Also, from the screenshots you've posted the image looks closer to the right colors for the LR one (closer ... but still not correct). I wouldn't bother relying on what the Canon print driver displays if you have a wide gamut monitor because I doubt the application is color managed.

Can you go through the steps you are following to print through LR?

I have that same printer and had the same issue. There is some bug with the drivers print preview function. When i was using it even though i had color management turn off at the printer driver the prints were coming out with a red tint. If i printed using Canon plugin for Lightroom it worked fine. What i did was disable the print preview function of the driver and then my Lightoom prints were coming out as expected.

gerry4w, do you have the Print Studio Pro Lightroom plugin installed? I believe it's required for the printer to work with LR.

The screen print you show with "Canon IJ Preview" at the top doesn't look to have anything to do with the LR plugin. http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRINT/canon-pro-100/ (external link)

andresg, it was the print preview that was overriding the color management. I searched everywhere before I posted and didn't find anything so I really appreciate your help. I don't usually use print preview but I had it on because I was learning to print borderless and multiple pictures per page from Lightroom. Once I turned it off, everything was better.

I uploaded a picture - the screen is a little faded because I had to tilt it to avoid glare.

Thanks for your help Kuma and Bob A. I did have color management set up with the proper plug-ins.

Thanks again!

Gerry
