I managed to actually find another pair of Frogmouths along to opposite side of the lake I found the initial pair. I would not have seen these, as they were well back from the tree line, were it not for a Kookaburra I was tracking somewhat giving their position away.

Those birds are so fascinating; I can see why they are difficult to find; great shots, Andrew.

Wait, there's a bird in the photo? ;)

Seriously, that's some fantastic camouflage. And great shots!

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

I missed both of them on my first look. Birds? Birds? Nothing there but wood!

Nice shots! Boy, they just disappear, don't they? I kept looking at the limbs, nothing... nothing... Oh, wait! That 'limb' is a bird!

(Of course, it didn't help matters any that I was looking for a bird more Whip-Poor-Will sized.)

I wonder if the video editors on The Titanic ever went, "Sorry, I can't right now. I'm busy synching the Titanic..."

Amazing bird and excellent captures! Looks like a character straight out of the Middle Earth's Fangorn Forest. ;)

Are you talking about those gray colored broken branches that are a little different color? I agree with Duane, Holy Crap! And with David, they would fit well there.
Well done Andrew....
