here are a couple more since I can only add 2 at a time.

Sorry, but in the "Share" areas IMAGE POSTING RULES specifically state: "Do not use the forum as your image gallery, post only the best of the best and link to the rest."
This means we allow 2 attachments by the OP per thread, OR 8 embedded (linked) images, OR a combination of 2 attachments + 6 embedded (linked) images, totaling 8 per thread. (Maximum 1024 pixels on any side.) You can always just post a link to more, though, or better yet, post a link to a gallery so we don't have to click on each image link.
Some exceptions are group threads, like "Show Me...", "Post your best...", equipment reviews, Tutorials, etc.
You may add a few additional photos if requested, but only in a reply to other member's post and request.

Close down your lens, don't use such a wide aperature. The DOF is too shallow especially in the first. Did you shoot these wide open at 1.8? If you did take heed that the 50 1.8 is not the sharpest lens at 1.8. It gets good at around 2.2, but it's notoriously soft at 1.8.

That being said, though I typically don't like portraits that have been shot down, these work for me. I wish there was some eye contact though. That would give these a bit more punch, imo.

#2 isn't the best, as it looks like you captured him right as something flew into his eye.

All-in-all, good start, but still needs some work. Keep shooting.

In photo 1 my eye is drawn to the out of focus shirt, the point of view is odd so high above the person.
Photo 2 is one that should be discarded. I cannot see it being displayed in a frame or shown to people. Photograph the person's face instead of their hand covering up their face. Check out some books on portrait photography from your library.

Thank you for the feedback! I did shoot these both at 1.8 and will keep in mind to shoot at a higher aperature for sharper images.
