How does everyone handle syncinc audio?
I will be shooting a music video. the song will be played back from the studio recording(44.1k audio)
The camera can not record audio so I must sync by eye and ear in premiere pro.
My question is, since the premiere project will be 48k how do I add 44.1k audio to the project without the speed being off and going out of sync?

But hey, they say it's not the gear right:rolleyes:

Until you have a time code audio player, audio for music video is synched by hand. You can easily convert the audio to 48K or change the project specs to 44.1k in settings. Unless you are using a very long shot of 10 + seconds in the video, you will not notice any loss in synch.

If the camera isn't recording any audio at all - not even reference audio - you are going to struggle. I would even suggest rigging another camera that can record audio so that you can reference the pictures from the primary camera with those of the secondary camera with audio. You can then match the primary camera with secondary audio to the master audio.

I don't understand why you wouldn't record reference audio on your primary camera though.

What gear are you using for this job? Like John Sims, I can't think of a video cam that doesn't offer some form of on-camera audio. Not for final audio, but for synching to your final audio

I'm using a 5d3, but I will be recording with Magic Lanterns RAW module. They haven't worked out the audio yet

The benefits of RAW recording bring a more complicated work flow. One solution is use a very old fashioned clapboard and always clap right on the beat 2 measures before the vocals start. This will give you a great tool to show where the video segment goes and a visual cue to line it up with the audio.

^^ I'm in the same situation since I've been shooting RAW with the mark III. I was going to suggest a clapper as well.
