Thankse sapearl, honestly that shot proves that it's much more about the glass than the body. That was a 70-200 f2.8L (non IS) and the 10D with AI Servo on the center point. The ole 10D had no problem keeping up with him at full speed.

You are very welcome ;). I agree that glass is important - I have a version of that lens - but it still takes a qualified person in the driver's seat to place well in the race :D.

The new tech just makes it easier to get more good shots.
30 years ago people took great photos with much "lesser" cameras.
Its the ease that has changed and the # of keepers that has increased.

All in all, I'm ok with that.

To vertigo and saperl, regardless of which camera and lenses I buy I will be practicing with my camera, using both AF and Manual ZFocus, controled lighting, distance from subject, subject position to me etc.

To get the shots that look good FOR ME!!

The first lenes I intend to buy for which ever cam I buy are the EFS 15-85mm, EF 40mm f2.8- EF 85mm f2.8.

Next lens I plan to buy for landscape after i save more money being the EF 8-15mm fish eye.
I think this lens performs better on crop frame that any sigma 10-20mm or canon 10-22mm would perform on the same crop camera, even when I make distortions correction with an image taken with the EF 8-15mm.

And finally if I buy the 70D I would buy the EF 70-200mm f2.8 L IS II USM.

If not the 70D then i buy the 100D, for the only reason thats its small and light, I wont be buying a 10D or 20D which weighs the same as the 70D because its CHEAP!!!

Even if lesser lenses perform great, these are the lenses I will buy!!!

For Zim and the others asking when the 70D would be released... Even though it's marked all over Amazon and other places. This was before it was even announced.

ROFL!!!!!!!!!

You know they are saying another model *might* be announced before end of year. And a 80MP model in 2014.

You could just buy a $50 camera and say you have something. ;)

Haha! So awful.

And there is certainly some truth to that :D.

I just can't afford to change out my tech with the frequency that some people seem to do....but if they can afford to run the rapid upgrade path, more power too them ;).

I know this, this camera being released is a full frame, I think maybe a replacement to the 1D X, I dont want a full frame.

As great as the 7D Mk II might be, I wont want it, it will be far too costly, and the same heavy weight and size as the original, I held an actual 7D at an event at my work place!

ZIM, I believe you indicated that weight is the critical factor for choosing a camera body and that is a major reason you prefer 70D. You also wish to get the 70-200 f/2.8 IS which will add 3.3Lbs to the weight of the body. Will that be an issue?

Yup
The body is lighter than the lens.
Plus the few mm in size is next to impossible to tell.

With today's sensors perhaps the 70-200 f4 IS would be something to consider -- much lighter, said to be sharper than a sushi knife, and also excellent IS -- with an L build.
