Let's see some images at low and high ISO's. I'd bet it's not a huge improvement over the 7D... I'd be pleasantly surprised if it is, however.

Looks like a 60D with WIFI and 19 AF points to me. I can't find fault with my 60D. Put that AF system on a 6D and I'd be looking a lot harder.

LOL. I would also if the 6D had the new 70D AF system.

I read the specs and early comments about the 70D last night and woke up thinking I'd pre-order one today. I'm a former 7D owner, currently with a 40D, so it would be a clear upgrade for me.

But now I'm not so sure about the 70D. The tech advances are way cool, but at the end of the day I would like this camera to at least match if not exceed the DR and ISO capabilities of the D7100. So I suppose I will wait for some early reviews, and probably a month or two of owner comments before I jump in the pool.

A 60D would be a clear upgrade in your situation. It is half the price of a 70D and you'll have to give up WIFI. No-brainer, there.

This and this. It's still way too early to make any decision other than a totally emotional one.

The preliminary spec sheet is quite impressive and the few sample jpegs posted look really nice as well, even the ISO 3200 one. But so far all of the press has been geared towards the video improvements and nothing has been said to indicate that there has been an improvement in the final product, the image itself.

If this camera can at least match the Exmore then this is a clear out of the park home run. If this camera delivers an image on par with what we currently have from Canon then it's back to waiting for the 7DII me.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.

Just to get near the front of the queue, I preordered one from Amazon, thinking I have at least six weeks to reconsider. Their original ship date estimate was August 15, but now it is September 15.

There is a good chance I will cancel and wait for other user comments and reviews. But the 70D would be nice to have for a trip to Hawaii in October.

I am most interested in the higher ISO: 12800/25600 vs 6400/12800 on my 60D. But I might shoot more video with the new live-view with autofocus on the 70D.

Canon 80D, 60D, Canon 10-22EFs, 15-85EFS IS, Sigma 100-400, Sigma 135/1.8ART, Sigma 30mm f/1.4DC, Canon 60mm EFs Macro, Rokinon 8mm fisheye, 550EX flash, Olympus TG6 underwater P&S
Postprocessing: DxOLabs 5, DxO Viewpoint 3, Paint Shop Pro 2021
Speak softly and carry a big zoom.

I don't see the higher ISO being of too much use. The 6D is only better than the 5D2 in JPG. The raws are pretty similar. That means you are paying for a JPG engine. Shooting raw and doing some PP work is cheaper. I like JPG so that is a tough call for me.

I totally get the new video AF system. For us casual 'video the grandkids' kind of guys, a normal DSLR is pointless for video. My SX260HS does a better job. I wouldn't upgrade for video AF, but that has got to be attractive to a lot of folks.

Preordered from Best Buy. 60 day return policy, and I can go there and things taken care of if the camera has an issue. I got my order in within an hour of it posting on their website early this morning so I figure I'll be in the first batch.

live view for overhead and really low shots = worth the upgrade. I can dream of a day when FF cameras will get this swivel screen. Tired of guessing shots.

I would hate to have a swivel screen on my 1DX. LOL. I guess everybody has different taste.

I can see the swivel screen being really handle for video recording.
