I kinda like it. It makes me laugh b/c he looks like a lion.
I have an image like this of my poodle and his ears are tack sharp. I wish i'd had gotten this guy's eyes in more focus, but I wasnt prepared for his ear flip.

Anyway.. is it total trash or do you find something you like about it.

Honestly this is a cool picture. I believe in following the rules until you feel the need to break them. everyone say lock on the eyes but in this i think the fact that his/her head is shaking so crazy that the feet are only in focus. Awesome picture, great example of how a mistake can be a better outcome than a perfectly executed photo.

I like it, but your blacks are too much on the gray side.

It looks like a painting, or a chalk drawing. I like it.

I think it's a keeper but would like more contrast, also.

That's what's nice about photography as potential art, or at least "the keeper." If it really works for the audience that's the main thing that really counts. Sure this is not technically perfect, but what it lacks in optimum exposure it more than makes up for in mirth, timing, warmth and essence of that cute little pooch.

I agree with the others though - using an exposure adjustment layer you could selectively add black to various areas of the composition for improved effect. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for the comments everyone. Here are 2 revisions. One color. I kinda like the color but you can see the other dogs leg next to him. i had a revision that was BW like the one above but now that I look again I think I way overdid the contrast so I'll have to revisit it again.

Thanks. I like the color way better too. I wish the other dogs leg wasnt there. He did this in the middle of a group shot.

Use the magic wand. Select the leg....feather the selection by 3 or 4 pixels, find an open area of the background to use as the source and then use the content aware fill tool to remove the leg. Very simple. No time like the present to learn.
