Im impressed!

Yesterday i had the chance to try out my lenses (16-35mm & 135mm) in a real shooting for the first time. My friend acted as model and was beautiful! It was pretty sunny with a few clouds working like a big softbox which was great!

I shot beautiful pictures with the 135mm and the 16-35 did also an samazing job. Shooting direct into the sun resulted in beautiful flare with the 16-35mm.

Definitely a great 2 lens combo. But what i missed a bit was something in the 50mm range.. Think i have to make the step toward the 50mm 1.2

I'm renting a 135L today for my trip. It'll be neat to see how well it works out. I suspect it'll work great for portraits and that I will feel compelled to find situations where I can use it.

Interesting rationalization for getting the 50L.

But watch out! After renting the 135L you might find a new love in your life, leading to a 1300$ purchase But well worth the money!

I like the 16-35mm too but for portrait/model shooting a bit to wide. But gave also great perspectives and pretty unique touches to some images.

Yeah maybe thats the reason, or maybe i decided to buy the 50L someday as i first recognized how much i do love bokeh

The Canon 50 1.4 isn't too shabby on the bokeh either.

a perfect third lens for you would be an 85mm! I recommend the sigma 85 for something on-par with your 135L.

35-85-135 are considered the best 3 focal lengths by a lot of people!

Thank goodness it doesn't cost that anymore... I see them go new regularly around $900... been watching that market pretty regularly

I really dont know. Without knowing how much 85mm really is id say it might be too long. The perfect length would be something around 60, i have the 40mm and love it on crop.. But the chances are small someone bringin a 60mm for fullframe. However i think 50mm might be more suitable and more versatile. I plan to use it then as my walkaround street photog lens

The 50mm is definitely more versatile for general photography and portraits, but the 85mm really sings for portraits. An alternative to the 50L is the sigma 50mm f1.4. I have owned both and whilst the 50L is great, the sigma is close in performance at 1/4 of the price. The 85L is absolutely fantastic for portraits, I've also owned that before, but I now have the sigma 85mm f1.4 (recently bought - yet to use), for under 1/2 the price of the 85L. The 85L AF is slower than most, but it is definitely usable for a walkaround and street - it only is really, really slow when focusing from far to near. For the price of a 50L you can own both the sigma 50mm and 85mm. For the price of a 85L you can get both sigmas and the 600EX-RT flash (which I notice there is not a flash listed in your gear list and would be great for portraits).

Hmm but for portraits im pretty happy with the 135L, thats why i dont think im needing the 85mm. I believe you, sure it must be a great lens and the AF cant be so bad, i mean its an L lens :P

But what i noticed during my shooting, as a tele my 135mm does the job which might be the 85mm for you and it works for me the way it is. Its not that im trying to go wider from my 135L. Its that i want go longer than my 16-35mm. And for that and as an overall performer the 50mm is my lens. Maybe its because i really want it or maybe because im so fixed to the 50L but i think it will be the right lens for me

And yes your right, the 600ex-rt is not listed but i have one. The reason why its not listed is because the forum doesnt allow more than 5 lines, and it belongs neither to the 6d nor to the 650d so i left it
