I have a pair of bluebirds nesting in my yard, so today I set up the camera to try to catch them as they return to the nest box with food. I was able to get a few decent captures, but I think I'll be trying again with a higher shutter speed/and or greater DOF. But for now, here are a few of the better attempts.

First up- Pops!

And just one of Momma...

What a great set, Mike! I personally like #2' with his feet tucked up getting ready to enter the house.

Thanks Ian, my hope is to see little heads peeking out soon, that should make for some fun shots.

Excellent set Mike, a great idea that turned out some really nice shots, real nice. I am on Ian,s boat, number two is superb, the feet tucked in coming in for a landing. The difference in one and two is pretty telling how they come to a quick stop. Great stuff Mike, very Well done all around even with the house in the shot, I think it helps.

Thanks everyone---BG...I was on the fence about including the houses, but if I cropped them out then the images had no context (I felt). The bluebirds sure can hover, too!

Great stuff! I was trying my swallows today, I know they will not be as sharp as your series!

Very nice! These shots are (IMO) an example of a bit of motion blur (wing tips) that adds to the image... much like prop blur with aircraft / airshow photography.

Look forward to more!

Good job, Mike; a lot of young of various species have left the nest already, so you shouldn't have long to wait.
