Which would you buy and why?
Im looking to use it with a 5d Mark III

I'm a little late on on this.....but my experience with the Smallhd products has been great. Currently using the AC7 OLED and love it.

What application are you using it for? I have a Small HD DP6 and been pretty happy with it for low to the ground manual focus with T/S lens. I have not used it for video, which is the main application these field monitors were developed for.

The Small HD shade works pretty well, and you need it in bright sun. The software features of the monitor I consider pretty important to get the most out of it. (see referenced article above) Focus peaking, dSLR scaling, 1:1 pixel mapping. Both units seem to be competitive in this regard, although I have never handled the Ikan. Note to get the most out of the HD resolution monitor you will need to use the HDMI output. The camera HDMI mini plug is notoriously a bit fragile. take care to minimize stress on this connector.

Nope, IMO SmallHD is still the only option Id consider. But this thread really should be moved to the Video section.
