Hi guys,

My girlfriend wants to get a nice camera, she wants to spend about €300,- till €400,- on a camera body. I am going to teach her how to use it nicely. If she is good enough she could help me with paid jobs in the future. So thats the reason we are looking for something better than the 1***D's.

She likes to shoot portraits and some random stuf. So I am going to give her my 50f/1.8 lens and I think the Tamron 17-50f/2.8 is a nice lens to start with (If it is not 5D ofcourse).

If I look at the secondhand market those are the options to choose from within her budget:

- 550D (+ Almost the same as the 600) (- not much cheaper)
- 600D (+ Screen, newest technology) (- probably the most expensive of those options)
- 40D (+ top screen and buttons) (- pretty old)
- 50D (+ top screen and buttons) (- not the cheapest)
- 5Dc (+ FF, DOF, best IQ)(- no live view, more expinsive lenses, old, not so much MP)

I know the pros and cons about each of them, but the decision is still pretty hard to make. So maybe could some of you help us to make a decision?

I think the 5Dc is a really great camera, but it is old if you are looking at the other models. So are there more people who are saying 5Dc?

The lenses are expensive though thats a big disadvantage. She wants to spend about 600 euro's in total.

5dc and 50mm would be a good starter kit for most people

Well, I bought my 5D2, and after using it for a week, my original plan, to keep my 40D as a backup camera, has ended up being: Buy a 5Dc as a backup camera.

So, I would suggest: 5D

5D. BTW, the Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 will work on the 5D. It presents a smaller image circle, but it does not hit the mirror or anything.
