Nice shots. How do you like that 400mm f/5.6? I'm contemplating getting rid of the 100-400L for it.

Oh, you might want to fix the horizon in #2.

Thanks. I never noticed the horizon.
I like the 400mm f/5.6. I only got the lens a couple of weeks ago and these were the first days that were good for photos. The spot is very far from shore. I really need a 600mm to get good shots, but it may be awhile until I can afford that.

Thanks again for looking.
Aloha

Mate wish I was there. Everytime I get near the Auckland surf beaches there is no ground swell..... except when im at work.

Nice shots do you have a web gallery with more of them?

No gallery but here are a couple of lefts for you. Taken a month ago with a cheap 100-300mm before I got my 400mm. Can't wait for this spot to get good again to use my new 400mm

I'm tired of shooting crappy waves here in San Diego. I want to go back home.

great waves and very nice shots. but IMO i think a little crop to bring them in closer would help.
i also use the 400 5.6 on the 20d and was just wondering what your settings are. i have been using it at 1250 and 5.6 and ajusting the iso and it workes great

When I crop I seem to lose alot of sharpness so these are uncropped. These were the first day using the lens and my settings for the last shot was 2000 at f8.0 ISO 400

If you're not going to crop then I'd reccomend that you try shooting them more as a lineup style shot. Get something in the foreground to add to it.
