Hello all! I'm probably overlooking something very obvious, but I noticed that two versions of the Canon 24-105 f4 L IS USM are selling on Amazon.com.

One is cheaper ($743) and was first listed on Amazon in 2005. The other is more expensive ($1149) and was first listed in 2004.

Does anyone know the difference between these two lenses? Thank you.

(OOPS--meant to put this in lens folder, not archive folder... wish I could delete this!)

Yes, I had to hunt about a bit in the listing, but the cheaper one is definitely grey market. The model number is ......B006 (non US version) whereas the more expensive one is ........B002 (standard US model number). That won't mean much to most people, and I only found that out by reading the questions and answers in the listing, where it is explained.

The lenses themselves will be identical, but there will be warranty issues in the US with the grey market one (of course, they do offer third party warranties with it, at extra cost, which could be purchased and still leave a significant saving).
