Silly question maybe but when you shoot these pans do you use a monopod or is it all free hand? I'm hoping to do some shortly.

Depends on the lens. Shot 6 is handhelf. 70-200 f/2.8L IS. Shot 8 is 300mm w/ 1.4X TC. This is way across the track from the roof/tower/spotters station over to just before they climb the uphill esses. So that is on a monopod.
