For the mac users, do you recommend 16 gb or is 8 enough for general photoshop and lightroom use?

My Mac Mini has 16 GB and my brand new i7 Haswell MacBook Air has 8 GB. Both are very snappy with Aperture and Photoshop. I suspect the MBA's ePCI3 SSD helps quite a bit. "Raw" is not an acronym, abbreviation, nor a proper noun; thus, it should not be in capital letters.

Buy third party and install yourself. Assuming you purchase a model of Mac that supports user upgrades to ram (Many models these days have soldered ram behind inaccessible cases) Canon EOS 7D | EF 28 f/1.8 | EF 85 f/1.8 | EF 70-200 f/4L | EF-S 17-55 | Sigma 150-500

The Mac Mini, non-Retina MacBook Pros, 27" iMac and Mac Pro have user-upgradable RAM. The Mac Mini, non-Retina MacBook Pros Mac Pro also have user-upgradable hard drives. I thought it was the 27" iMac that had user accessible ram to allow upgrades, but I wasn't completely sure. Canon EOS 7D | EF 28 f/1.8 | EF 85 f/1.8 | EF 70-200 f/4L | EF-S 17-55 | Sigma 150-500
