Canon Speedlite 90EX for EOS M - $99 at B&H

So to those of you who got in on the $299 EOS M deal, are you getting this flash too? It looks like B&H is the only one with $99. Amazon is selling for $145 and Adorama is selling at $139.

Thanks. I was just about to ask if anyone had compared them. The 270 has a metal foot where the 90 has a plastic one. Does the 90 tilt like the 270?

Yep, that looks like a much better option!

I went to a camera store and looked at the 90 and 270 side by side and chose the 90.

The point of the EOS-M is it is small and the 270 is a little bigger than the M body. The 90EX is much smaller& lighter and it still has a guide number of 30 feet wich is better than a point and shoot.

That's a very good point... Hmmm.. I'll just wait and see how much flash I would actually need with the M.

Bought mine yesterday. Want the light weight of the 90 ex.

No, the 90EX doesn't bounce, just a straight on pop up flash replacement. It's also got poor recycle time due to running of only 2 AAA batteries, which have low mAh ratings compared to AA. Also consider the 90EX has a GN of 9. That's like the flash output of a compact camera's built in flash.

270EX II is not much bigger, bounces, recycles faster, has much more output and works with wireless ETTL flash. That's the one to get.

One thing to note, the 90ex has wireless master function, while the 270ex II doesn't.

The 270EX II has wireless slave and the 90EX doesn't, so I guess it depends on what you are looking for. For me, 90% of the reason to have a speedlite is bounce flash for indoor flash shots. The 90EX would be nearly worthless for me unless I could rig some kind of reflector.

No prob. I'm trying to decide myself, so I was gathering info and comparing these two yesterday.

Keep in mind the two images are not to scale, the 270EX is about an inch larger in 2 dimensions. The 90EX is impressively small, but the 270EX is also about half the size of a regular bounce flash.

I'm going to see how ridiculous my 420EX is and if it is just to oversized, I will swap it for a 270. Or I suppose I could get the 90EX and trigger my 420EX in a table stand.

Can anyone post a shot of the EOS-M with a 430EXII attached? I just jumped on the $299 deal with the 22mm, and I already have TWO 430EXIIs (and a 580EXII), so it would be silly to buy another flash, but if the 430 looks ridiculous on the M (or if it's crazy unbalanced) I might have to break out the wallet again
