Hi right now I have a 5D III with L lenses and I am looking for a back up camera (just in case) like when I am doing a wedding or baptism but that is once in a while, I do not need to pay for a 6D just to have it in the bag, so right now my choices are, I found a used 40D with battery grip and 2 batteries and he also has had the shutter replaced a few months ago and he is selling it for 350.00 euro, and the next option is I found a 7D battery grip and 2 batteries with 30.000 clicks and he is selling it for 800.00 euro, I am tempted to buy the 40D but is the 7D worth the extra cost to the 40D? thanks.

Looking at your website I can't see anything where the 7D would be a better option, unless you want to venture into birding/sports.

For a backup camera the 40D would be fine. Its plenty capable of doing a wedding in a pinch.

Thanks the only thing stopping me with the 40D is it has no MA which my lenses on the 5D III nedded some adjustments.

How much critical work are you going to be doing with it? Its an insurance policy. Is it worth more than double the price for a camera you dont intend to use? Most lenses are acceptably sharp without MA.

+1 to the 40D. Or you can wait for a 50D to pop up that looks good ad priced right.

Probably not worth double the price, I'll probably just get the 40D...

For backup, the 40D, altough I would rather suggest a EOS 5Dclassic , if you can find one.
That way all of your lenses would work the same way on both cameras.
The 5Dc outperformes the 40D in high ISO, (not bad for wedding), and has a little bit higher resolution.
Should be somewhere between the 40D and the 7D in prize.
