hi all
been reading all the post on what can and cannot be photographed (political madness gone mad especially in the uk..but thats just my opinion ).
Well i was walking along the local canal and admiring all the lovely canal cruisers and colourful barges and was thinking that when the weather improves (if ever) i'm gonna let the camera loose on theses boats.
What I'm wondering is though, are there any inane rules about photographing these 'privately' owned boats from a public towpath, (purely for my own personal pleasure) obviously if the owners object then i wont photograph their boat. and should I ask the owners permission before taking the picture (although i dont really want to look like a nutter shouting across a canal !!) or is it okay to just shoot em? (if theyre the pc pepes that may not be a bad idea.lol)
hopefully as i see it, at the moment its 'safe' to photograph them at the moment(I may be wrong).
How long before the great british government relent totally to the pc brigade, b4 you cant take pics of anything??

Get yourself up to Hepdon bridge Phil. You'll have no problems at all

I don't know what good composition is.... Sometimes for me composition has to do with a certain brightness or a certain coming to restness and other times it has to do with funny mistakes. There's a kind of rightness and wrongness and sometimes I like rightness and sometimes I like wrongness. Diane Arbus

Very nice place and nice picture. Is that like a small waterfall or water level change by the bridge. Looks like a spillway or small dam?

No problem Robert.

Just snaps of course, but it's a beautiful little Town.

I took this pic of a boat at Marple Bridge (near Stockport). The boat was only a couple of years old (I thought they were all decades old). I took pictures anyway, but ended up talking to the owner, who was delighted to have his picture taken. They are usually very nice people.

They don't seem to have a law against it yet, but make sure there is not a child within a 5-mile radius!

Love your pics Sean by the way.

Graham

It is - my father was from there - his friend drowned in one of the locks near where this picture was taken. I used to go and stay over the summer holidays. I learned to swim in the local baths. It was a real trip down memory lane!

Graham

ps thanks about the photo, but yours show a much more interesting place.
