I just want a simple bar white bar with about 50% opacity and my name running along the left hand side?

Make a white bar (or grey) and put your logo on the left side. Save as a .psd file. Use this file to set up a watermark preset in Lr. This way you can choose when to apply it; for example, I have Lr apply mine on export to flickr, but not if I'm exporting for print. It beats adding it in Ps and then having to have extra copies of the image hanging around. VanillaImaging.com

When I export to the HD, it applies the WM, but when it goes to Flickr, the WM never appears. I used LR 5, but I bet the process is the same for any recent version of LR. Name is Ron.
