Any reason why you don't want the camera to store the images to the card type explicitly supported by the camera?

Just get a Sandisk 16GB SD Ultra card form Walmart (external link). Last time I was at one they were ~$18.00 in the store.

Thanks for your responses;

I guess I am just paranoid, I want to save pictures to as many places as I can.

I don't understand "Cloud"" although I do have a Tablet but it has Windows 8 that really throws me for a loop.

You need a more expensive camera with either two memory card slots or with the ability to also send your photos using WIFI (or have a memory card with WIFI support) in you want more than one location for your photo directly when you shoot.

In your case, shoot with the camera exactly as it was designed. Then transfer your photos to multiple locations. Such as a laptop or tablet and an external disk or a USB thumb drive.

You should also consider using Microsoft's Skydrive with your Win 8 laptop.

Another option is to get three or four SD cards for your G12, so you can us them as storage devices as you fill them up. You could number them, and swap out a card each day, so not all your photos are stored on one card during the trip, continuing the rotation during the trip. Make sure you Format the cards in your G12 before you start to use them. Store the currently unused cards in a secure place with your luggage where you are staying. You could carry the cards with you when traveling from one location to another. It's extra work, but eliminates all your "eggs" in one basket.

A couple of things you can do in Europe. For a few bucks at most cyber cafes you can burn your images to a CD or move to a stick It might cost you $10 for an hour of computer time but you can also check email, find a restaurant, etc.

In the UK I have found that most libraries have several PC's which even as a tourist, you can use at no charge. Again, carry some blank CD's and burn the images or move to a stick.

Tell us where you are headed, some of us may have some travel tips.
