The G3 can still perform (but you knew that anyway!). I just finished my new gallery from my trip to Oahu, Kauai, and Maui with the G3. I even did a few panoramas with the panorama function (never used it too much in the past, but now I love it).

You definitely have the eye for composition.

Excellent, outstanding pictures. Thanks for sharing your work, Scott !

And your work say it - not the camera - the eye behind here makes great photos.

Great Great Great

Regards from Tenerife
Klaus

Thank you! I like that one, too. I used the neutral density filter to get the milky water effect (camera on tripod).

And no, I do not know who the girl is, though I wouldn't mind one bit!

Hi Klaus,

Thank you very much. These islands are about as far away from Tenerife as you can get, but I guess islands are beautiful no matter where you go.

Scott,
Most Excellent!!

I really enjoy the picture of the volcanic cinder cone. :) Looks like another planet...

Your pics have a particular sharpness to them - maybe it's the DOF... What mode did you shoot those in?

Thanks for sharing.

Scott, amazing work as always.

Yours is a clear case of having the eye, no matter which camera you use, you always extract the max out of it.

It will help a lot others if you include the EXIF data with the pics!

A question: what do you think is the best method to acquire composition skills, reading books about it, or learning (studying the photos) others have done in the past?

Outstanding photos. I enjoyed them very much. They all could be postcards.

Wonderful pictures... they show not only the ability of the photographer but also the capability of Canon G3.

My favorite is the rainfall... It is rarely seen to have rainfall side by side with blue sky. But it could be better if you took the shot a little bit to the right, so the black thing (i suppose part of the hill) is not so strong.

Keep on hunting...

Regards from Schutterwald, Germany.

Thanks Leafpile! It feels like another planet, too. The air is very thin, and its cold & windy up there!

For "regular" shots (i.e. daylight landscapes), I always use the "Av" mode, set to f4 or f5. That cuts down on CA, and gives good DOF.
