I've been a C1 fan for sometime now and on another thread came across Breeze. Compared to C1 or Adobe bridge how does it rate? Easier to use? Reliable output?

I'm mainly looking for better sharpening from RAW to JPEG. Unlike WB and exposure, sharpening is one of those things that is painful for me. I'd like a solution that "Just works" and will make automated decisions about how much sharpening needs to be applied.

I can shoot P1 in the camera and the camera sharpening is great but I loose exposure bracketing and WB adjustment without RAW. So I'm not willing to loose RAW but really dislike the whole trial and error approach to sharpening. If I shot on a tripod and used MLU plus a remote for every shot I think a set of saved settings will work but we know its more fluid than that.

I have CSPRO for PS CS2 and it works OK but still needs lots of tweaks per image to get it right. USM cannon 300,0.3,0 works OK but only sometimes. I've paid for and played with focus magic but it just feels out of flow with PP and too makes poor decisions.

The trial I played with from Breeze seems to do well with the "high-medium-low" approach of sharpening. So know I'm a little gruf here but I'd love to hear from someone who's been down this road of disappointment.

What works and works well?

Thanks in advance

I've never been happy with the sharpening from either BB or C1. I tend to do all my sharpening inside Photoshop. I have a slightly different workflow than you in that I take my shots from RAW to TIFF to JPG. I have used Glen Mitchell's TLR Sharpening script and it does a pretty good job as well.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

I tried a sharping program from FM. I was impressed, it's better than PS CS2 (which I have). I gotta be getting it.

I would definitely recommend that you do not sharpen in the RAW editor.

If you want something that sharpening that "just works" then you might want to look at nik Sharpener Pro: http://www.nikmultimedia.com/sharpenerpro/usa/entry.php? (external link)

I've downloaded the DEMO of PRO. Will post results within the next few days.

It really is excellent. But too darned expensive for me at $329. However it does so MUCH so easily that I can see it being worth that much. If it were half the price I'd probably own it already, but that's equivalenet to a lens, for gosh sake! :-)

Yeah but you know if it will save me PP time it will pay for itself in short order ;)

Oh, no doubt!

I am against "saving PP time" since I love taking the picture AND post-processing it. I don't blink twice at spending a couple hours in front of a single pic. (Though that's insanely rare.) I love Photoshop.

Though for me, a full day's shooting usually means processing maybe 10 pics and fully processing 3-5 of them. Once a month, if I'm lucky, I get 1 shot that's worth all the time I can give it.

Funny? That's totally honest and not meant to be funny in any way. I'm confused as to why you think it's funny??

Nothing against you just thought it was funny.

OK, now I understand.

Generally you don't want to listen to me if you want to do something "easy" in Photoshop.

My humor meter is completely out of whack. Why is it funny? :o

Here I am trying to be serious, and people are cracking up around me. I'm getting self-conscious here.

It's late. I'm punchy. For some reason, what you're saying is funny. I don't know why. I apologize.
