Looks more like a Common Merganser to me......but they're not supposed to be in Florida....maybe a Red Breasted Merganser?

thx Wallace River!

I was hoping for an expert like you to chime in.

yep, it is a Merganser, Red breasted, but the female so without the dark body and head of the male.

not supposed to be here during the summer, supposed to be up your way in far north/Canada, in the Maritimes in Canada NE and Arctic North of the other provinces. No listings for US anywhere except Alaska.

is this unusual?

thanks for the help!
