Playing with my wireless remote and Sigma 35 f1.4. I prefocused on where she likes to roost while keeping an eye on the feeder for any intruders. Naturally, she went to several other branches instead but patience finally won out. I also set up the camera to get the best morning light but the clouds weren't cooperating.

Good result. I have that lens and I can see how close the camera must have been!

Thanks, I didn't measure but I'd guess the camera was about 6 ft away. This is cropped about 50%. Wish I had a better background than the cinder block wall.

Came out well Gene.

Thanks, now if only the sun will cooperate.

One more at a small feeder I placed on my dwarf lemon tree...still cloudy.

QUOTED IMAGE

gorgeous lens and bokeh

like how you set it up, can't wait for the next one with the sun light getting through :)

btw, did you set for precise focal point or did you go a bit hyperfocal to get increase dof while keeping the bokeh?

Thanks. I've enjoyed your bird shots as well. I like this lens so much I couldn't resist seeing how it would do shooting hummingbirds.

Thanks. I tried to focus on the branch but didn't use live view @10x zoom...which I probably should have. Even though I was shooting at f5.6, it looks like the leaves in front of him are a little sharper. Hopefully, tomorrow the weather will be more cooperative and I'll be able to aquire focus even better.

Here is the first image above uncropped for anyone that might be curious what that looks like. If you click on the image, you can view a very large version of it. There was no sharpening done to this image other than what was applied in camera.

Very nice shots . The way it looks sitting there looks like a juvie to me . HArd to say . I once imaged a juvie and only reason I knew was the mother came up and started feeding it . But they are somewhat fluffy as a juvie .

I believe it's a juvenile male Costas but I'm not sure. I also spotted something else trying to sneak in closer from next door this morning too.
